Furthermore, interportal.ch cooperates with like-minded international sites, in particular with OneWorld Network (www.oneworld.net) and the German Entwicklungspolitik online (www.epo.de). Selected news from their sites are published on interportal.ch. Press Agency InfoSüd in Berne is the resonsible editor.
The idea for a Swiss website on development issues had developed immediately after the legendary journal „mosquito“ ceased publication in March 2000. Medicus Mundi Switzerland invested a significant amount of resources to make this idea materialising. A project team set up of representatives of Swisscoalition, the Berne Declaration, cinfo, Swissaid and Medicus Mundi realized the project and on June 5, 2001 interportal.ch went online.HyperWerk, the University for modern communication technologies in Basel, did all the technical development.
interportal.ch has been relaunched in its present version in 2008, using the OpenSource CMS plone. Design www.fugu.ch, plone adaption: www.4teamwork.ch.
